    great! fantastsic! Jenkie! - I recon you could put ergon grips on your mountain bike for extra comfort. I have one of those hard carbon selle saddles - I get actual skin hardening on my sit bones - I can do 200kms on it but in discomfort!

    All bikes have the WORST gear shifting experience, there is no bike with perfect gearing - my first initial thought, having been riding a bicycle from early days, but never understood how to actually do a proper gearing, wow, this is an eye opening moment. I've been using gear WRONG all these years, and also gearing while pedaling hard, no wonder why chain breaks and skipping in gears happened. Thank you!

    I've been using this guide for a couple of years to adjust the b-tension screw on my XT 12-speed. Recently I changed the chain after it reached 0,75% wear, only to notice that the b-tension was all out of whack. This was set up by the manufacturer after I received it back from maintenance where they changed casette and chain. Note that it was shifting perfectly. So after I put the new chain to lengh, making sure to put it on correctly (with the imprinted text to the outside), same for the quick-link I set up the b-tension to the indicated line (derailleur was much to high). Since then I cannot get it to shift good anymore; there are a couple of spots on the casette (from gear 5 to 6, most notable) that 1 out of 3 shifts, the shifting will go very clunky (also loud noise), and when pedalling it will feel like it's missing a buch of gears (pedals will fly forward). Now for the time being I have returned the b-tension screw somewhat to it's old position; shifting is better/quicker, but there are still some problem spots. Any clues before I bring it back to the bike shop? (I really like to do maintenance myself however)

    Just wondering how the SRAM chain works so well with the XTR cassette if the chains are designed to work with the ramps of the cassette from their own brand.

      They do. I use garbaruk cassete (micro spline, for shimano), with sram xx1 chain and campagnolo super record chain. Every single shift for the last 4000km is fast and crisp. Also the sram xx1 chains last longer than any other 12 speed chain out there.

    Hello legend, congratulations on this beautiful bike! Bike really looks amazing and all it’s parts are top levele as I can see. As for Shimano rotors, I had exact the same situation with them, even XTR rotors are making “turkey noise” and if break harder they will rub. I mean on brand new 180mm rotors. So I turned to Galfer and they are awesome, no rubbing no noise and they break better and harder, wear is minimal. I can see you have HT M2 pedals, I am considering to get them. I had M8100 but don’t know how but it seams they bearings and bearing races are made of lead. Now I am on Look X track race and they are fine bit they have one flaw, you have to buy special tool to open the pedal. Working on solution to that problem.

    • @mihaichiriac480
      @mihaichiriac480 2 дні тому

      Probably because you don't need to check the battery every time you want to get out with the bike. AXS shifts better under load, but XTR is as good as it gets from Shimano

    This was good and useful, to show a line of tools and discuss the trade offs. I guess I'm rare in that I'd rather have a stand alone chain tool, like the Pedro's multifunction one and a simpler multitool like the M10 you showed with longer tools or even just a fold out set of Allen keys and another of Torx that I also would use at home. For a flat and Phillips bit I'd use a folding knife that has those on it or just a small two way screwdriver. However the M10 may make more sense in terms of weight and size to carry with you. I just like the dual use aspect of home and road use. I'd also consider a Leatherman type tool. Some Leatherman type tools can take bits, in which case I'd consider just carrying the bits my bike needs and using the Leatherman to drive them, most likely with their bit extension. I already own a Skeletool so I'd just need their extension and some standard 1/4" bits for my bike as I don't care for Leatherman's half width bits. You also get a serious knife and pliers this way. For countries with restrictive knife laws maybe the Leatherman Bond is a better choice. Same idea though...or the knifeless Rebar... I find the thin double ended 8 & 10mm wrench/spanner a reasonable tool to carry as well, it's thin and light and those sizes abound. If one has a backpack anyway I find a small adjustable wrench with larger thinner jaws worthy of being carried but that's a pretty big step up and maybe it's just better at that point to get an Alien bike tool, the old one or the new one? A lot of tools in a relatively small package.

    SRAM Lately is garbage. SX, NX are garbage. In comparison to Shimano Deore M5120 Derrailleur + M7100 SLX Crankset, 10 speed HG 11-46. Got into an accident with a car and the derrailleur bended a little and it is still going after 10,000.00 kms where a friend of mine has bought 3 NX Cassettes, 2 NX Derailleurs in the same period of time ( almost 4 years.) Shimano all day everyday.

    My Pulleys didn't have arrows but those three dots in the middle. So these dots should be visible from the outer side? I build them in to the inner side. Have a M8130 Linkglide derailleur that I cleaned today but i don't know how they were in there because of too much dirt. My old Pulleys are worn out, the chain jumps off the T-Pulley i ordered new ones to change them asap.

    The reason why I put Shimano over SRAM is because SRAM put out the SX drivetrain! The largest pile of rubbish I have ever tried in my life! Shimano budget drivetrain is the Shimano Deore which is a very good drivetrain for the price. I have since upgraded my drivetrain to the XT I have thousands of miles on it. The only thing I’ve had to change is the chain other than that it’s sheer perfection.
